Okay, I know what I'm about to say is going to be annoying to hear and all, but I have to say it. When you get to college you are going to meet some people that are actually decent and will talk to you and listen and be great friends. High school blows sometimes, but other times you meet someone that will listen. It’s really hard to constantly be around people who don’t respect your interests. I’ve got maybe like four “good” “friends” (as per my last text post, use those words with great caution) and never is there a moment when a roll of the eyes and an “oh my god, you’re not talking about THAT again” isn’t completely normal. Most of you probably know by now that I’ve had this newfound love for the Kennedy family and presidency. My friends, one a compulsive shopper who’s completely into boys and her looks more than anything in life and another who is deeply introverted, always quiet, and never rebellious. (None of that really matters, I guess I just wanted to give you an idea of them?) Anyway, we all have lunch together and anytime I feel like I want to share a cool thing I read or a documentary I saw, which is actually pretty rare, they give me this look and just say, “of COURSE you did…” and return to complaining about whatever.

It’s so deflating to feel like your interests don’t matter. And it’s not like I demand them to even like the thing I’m talking about. I just want them to respect that I like it, you know?

And it’s not just the Kennedy thing, either. It’s not even when I talk about interests of mine. If I try to make plans with them or tell a story or vent about something, I’m almost immediately dismissed.

It would just be really nice to have at the least just one friend who doesn’t suck as a person.

Okay, I promise I’m done now.

I don’t do this often but I need to ramble so bear with me.

I’m so scared for the future. I don’t know exactly what it is I’m afraid of… just everything in general, I guess. I’m afraid to be fully independent. I’m afraid I won’t be cut out for college or fit in. I’m afraid I’ll let my family down. (From a very young age, as the oldest granddaughter/niece/daughter/etc., I’ve been held to a very high standard, especially where academics are concerened. And that paired with my own high expectations… just no.)

I was thinking about this last night and about how I only have a year of high school left. Not to mention I’m entering said senior year with no true friends and no real idea as to what the fuck I’m doing with my life.

It’s just been hard for me dealing with growing up… I don’t know. Everyone else can’t wait to graduate and move out on their own and have their own lives, but I’m just not excited? Maybe it’s got something to do with the way I was brought up, being so exposed to what the “real world” is really like. Or maybe it’s a combination of that and my general anxiety for the future (and just about everything else).

I just can’t bear the thought of failure and uncertainty. I understand both are necessary and completely unavoidable as a human, but I have such a hard time not asking “what if?” I can’t just accept the fact that I don’t know how something will turn out or what I or anyone else is going to do next.

I’m just feeling very sad and scared and alone lately. And I probably just need a hug and a good cry but… ya know… the whole alone thing prevents that. So. This didn’t really help my mood. It actually kinda worsened it a bit. Awesome.
